Who are Elim?
Reset Church is a pioneer church plant, and is part of the Elim Pentecostal Church Movement which has around 600 churches in the UK as well as churches in thirty five countries around the world.
ELIM was founded in 1915 by George Jeffreys and a team of men and women – all of which had been caught up in what they believed to be a fresh wave of the Holy Spirit. At the time, they had no plan to start a denomination, their focus instead was on campaigns and outreaches in town after town and city after city.
However, many Elim converts were often not welcome in other churches. Therefore the first Elim Church was opened in 1916 in Belfast in a former laundry (pictured).
By 1920 there were 15 Elim Churches in Ireland and 21 recognised Elim ministers. Later, a number of other churches began to join the Elim movement, including independent Pentecostal fellowships in Dowlais, Wales and Vazon, Guernsey.
By 1924 they had opened the first Elim Bible School at Clapham to train young men and women for the ministry. They had also launched a Publishing House, a correspondence course to train up church workers and an overseas missions department which had begun sending Pentecostal missionaries across the world.
Churches continued to be planted across the UK and beyond.
From these miraculous beginnings, as the story unfolds, we see how God used Elim’s early pioneers to inspire successive generations to believe in Him for a move of His Spirit, which would see thousands come to faith in Christ and experience the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in their own lives.
The journey continues…
